Nigerian Army directs NGO in Borno to register within two weeks

The Nigerian Army has directed Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) engaged in humanitarian activities in Borno to register with government, to fast track implementation of the counter-insurgency campaign. The organizations were expected to obtain registration within two weeks or face expulsion. The Theatre Commander, Operation Lafiya Dole, Major-General Rogers Nicholas, gave the directives during a meeting with the NGOs at the Maimalari Cantonment, Maiduguri.

Major-General Nicholas advised the organizations to ensure that their vehicles were in good condition to guard against break down while conveying relief items to displaced persons in various parts of the state. He also explained that the restriction of movement on some highways was due to the ongoing clearance operation against the remnants of Boko Haram insurgents.
