INEC partners population commission on dead persons in voter register

The Independent Electoral Commission, INEC has urged the National Population Commission to furnish it with record of dead citizens since 2015 to enable it to “sanitize’’ the voter register. Chairman of the commission, Professor Mahmood Yakubu, made the requested when he visited the Chairman of NPC, Mr Eze Duruiheoma, in Abuja.

He said that the records were necessary to enable the electoral umpire to expunge names of dead persons from the national voter register. According to him, the commission is determined to do whatever it takes to sanitize the voter register as a free, fair and credible election is dependent on a sanitized voter register.
