Nigeria Shippers' Council unveils plans to establish inland dry port in Oyo state

The Nigeria Shippers' Council (NSC) has called for the support of the Oyo state government in its plans to resuscitate and expand Ibadan Inland Dry Port (IDP) and establish Truck Transit Park (TTP) in the state. Executive Secretary and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigeria Shippers' Council, Mr. Hassan Bello disclosed this during a courtesy to the Governor's office. Mr. Bello explained that with the new arrangement with a Chinese firm ready to invest two hundred million dollars into the inland dry port project, about sixty thousand hectares of land would be required for the technology driven inland dry port.

While noting that the arrangement would engender profound economic benefit to the state and generate employment, Mr. Bello added that thirty five thousand hectares of land would also be required from the state government for the establishment of a truck transit park. In his remarks, Governor Abiola Ajimobi assured the support of the state government in realizing the project while stressing that a joint implementation committee should be set up to facilitate processes in actualizing the projects. The Governor thereafter urged the council not to tolerate further delays in implementing the project.
