Lagos State Government inaugurates layby on Third Mainland Bridge

The Lagos State Government has inaugurated a multiple layby at the Iyana-Oworoshoki by Car Wash Bus Stop on the Third Mainland Bridge.

Declared open by the Special Adviser to the Lagos State Governor on Transportation, Mr. Anofiu Elegushi, the layby was constructed as part of the continued efforts by the state government to keep traffic moving along the axis, a statement signed by the Director, Public Affairs, Ministry of Transportation, Mr. Biola Fagunwa, said.

The statement quoted Mr Elegushi as saying that the move became necessary in order to remove the gridlock, which had become a recurring decimal along the Third Mainland Bridge.

He added that the state, being a centre of many activities and opportunities, had become a foremost business destination and the magnet drawing people from far and near.

Mr Elegushi stated that over the years, deliberate steps had also been taken, using the Ministry of Transportation and its agencies for the provision of road infrastructure including the construction of roads, rehabilitation of dilapidated ones, provision of bus shelters, laybys, lane marking, traffic signal lights, promotion of waterways, introduction of the Bus Rapid Transit scheme, construction of Blue and red lines rails, among others.
